If I look closely, it looks to me like the 35 is pulling just a hair more detail out of the low-key treetrunk. This is pixel-peeping glory; it has no practical significance whatsoever. These two shots have been post-processed to get the "exposure" as close to identical as I could, since small differences there affect low-key detail significantly. It cannot be ruled out that the difference is actually due to this manipulation (but I don't think so.)
